15 September 2024Hey everyone,
We’ve reached the end of the Therion storm. The band kicked off their Leviathan III tour in Eskişehir, then moved on to Ankara, and finally hit Istanbul. They wrapped up their last show on September 8, 2024, at the SoldOut Performance Hall in İzmir.
The best part about the SoldOut venue was definitely the lack of parking issues. It was easy to get to by public transport since it’s inside the Mavibahçe Shopping Mall. The sound was spot on with a well-set-up system.
As for the concert… Therion is like a band that’s been brewing mythology and occultism in a black cauldron for years, serving it up like “one shot every morning.” The lyrics draw you into a mesmerizing world you can’t escape. The concert had that same vibe, like Aleister Crowley’s spirit might appear at any moment.
I was hoping they’d start with “O Fortuna,” but they kicked things off with the equally impressive “Seven Secrets of the Sphinx.” The band’s interaction with the crowd was top-notch; the more the audience got into it, the more the band did too. Rosalia and Lori’s epic vocal harmonies were a highlight for me. When they played “Litany of The Fallen,” I closed my eyes for a moment—the sounds were like velvet.
They played for nearly two hours and kept up their energy the whole time. The crowd sang along with “Ruler of Tamag” in the early minutes. For me, “Eye of Algol” was particularly special, and Rosalia’s powerful vocals were amazing in that song. They also threw in a surprise with “Mark of Cain,” which they hadn’t played in years. It was a treat, and definitely one of my favorites.
Near the end, they took a break, and when they came back, they got everyone jumping with “The Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah.” That was definitely the highlight of the night.
Overall, it was an epic evening. For both long-time fans and newer occultist fans, it was a nostalgic and fulfilling experience. It left us wanting more.
