Review: “Archspire – Bleed the Future”
6 October 2024Interview: Adrian Baxter (artist to The Halo Effect, Dååth)
16 October 2024Ne Obliviscaris’ concert on October 10 at Beşiktaş IF Performance Hall was an unforgettable night for metal fans. Tracks from Citadel and Exul brought the band’s signature depth and technical prowess to the stage.
Hatemotion opened the night with a strong set, featuring songs like Salvation Comes and Run Away. Their energy immediately drew the audience in, setting the tone for the night.
As for me, this concert held personal significance. They distributed a program that included my interview with Tim Charles, which felt incredibly rewarding. Being a part of this unforgettable night made me feel genuinely proud. I even had the chance to grab photos with both Tim and James Dorton after the show, which was another highlight.
The performance itself was mesmerizing. Painters of the Tempest, from Citadel, was one of the standout moments, with Tim’s violin harmonizing beautifully with Benji Mackay’s guitar work. Hearing Equus and Misericorde from Exul live was a fantastic experience, showcasing the band’s experimental side. Tim’s violin and smooth vocals, paired with James Dorton’s powerful growls, created a musical chemistry that was nothing short of magical. Dorton, already known for his work with Black Crown Initiate and The Faceless, didn’t just fill in for Xen—he added a whole new dimension to the band’s vocal identity, perfectly capturing their complex and emotional sound.
And then there was And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope—a track so intricate and emotionally charged that it felt like more than just a song. It was an immersive experience where we all got lost in the layers of sound and emotion.
This concert wasn’t just about witnessing a band play live; it was a reminder of why Ne Obliviscaris is so much more than just another group. Their ability to blend contrasting emotions with technical skill and stage presence made every song feel like a work of art. Every moment on stage showed how in sync the band members were, each one perfectly complementing the other’s talents. Honestly, this performance was easily one of the best concerts of the year.
A big shout-out to %100 Metal and Black Label Events for their hard work in making this night happen. I’m certain this was just a preview of what’s to come!
