Review: “Metallica – 72 Seasons”
14 April 2023Review: “Gojira – From Mars to Sirius”
2 July 2023Hey everyone!
I’ve been away for a while, but now I’m back with a review of the local rock band Kurtadamlar.
After releasing their compilation album “Electric Heart” in 2022, Kurtadamlar dropped a new EP last month. Titled “CCEP,” this EP was released on May 18, 2023, in memory of Chris Cornell on the 6th anniversary of his passing. The name “CCEP” likely stands for Chris Cornell EP.
“CCEP” features two tracks: “You Know My Name,” known as the soundtrack for the 2006 film Casino Royale, and “Show Me How To Live,” a 2002 track by Audioslave.
Honestly, I think Kurtadamlar did a commendable job with these covers. They exceeded my expectations following their 2022 album. While I had some reservations about the guitar tones and drums, I found the vocals quite impressive. However, I felt they lacked the emotional impact that Chris Cornell’s originals conveyed. This could be due to the tonal choices or the vocal timbre.
When comparing these covers to the originals, it’s clear that there are some production shortcomings. With a more professional production, these tracks could have had a richer and fuller sound.
I encourage Chris Cornell fans to give this EP a chance and support local bands by following Kurtadamlar on their social media channels.
Enjoy listening!
